Without a bow on it

the gifts the wise women brought come
in scrubby little boxes
some are hard to open
others difficult to hand over

the red one labeled “I’m sorry”
the green one “let me make it right”
the white one just “thank you”
There's a fourth, but you can't see it

everyone deserves these gifts; not
everyone has what it takes to give them out loud
silently, I send you boxes and boxes of
every color, wherever you go
